I also found these items. I was wondering if maybe the bones were used as tools? The small pieces of what I call clay have holes all the way through them. They are not really like the pipe stems we have found in the past so not sure. One friend of mine thought they might be beads. Any ideas? the last pic is a bigger piece of what I'd call flint. It is very sharp along the edge. Wondering if it might be some sort of knife or scraper?

I'd say it looks like you found a nice fleshing tool and a nice awl. Your friend is right. Those are ceramic beads. I've found a few myself here in N.E. Texas, but they are rare here. The fliint object of course is some type of tool, Looks like you had a pretty cool haul. Just out of curiosity, which part of the country you in? Bone tools down here are usualy in a poor state of preservation.

Jonnyreb I live in midcoast Maine. I have found quite a few pieces of bone ranging in all sizes from less than an inch to 4 or 5 inches. These 2 here are the only ones that I thought may have been used for something. I have been just discarding most of the peices. I have saved some.I also found a tooth in same area. Pic is in an earlier forum. I also want to thank you on the beads. I just found those a couple days ago in a new hunting area. A friend and I found 15 to 20 pieces in a 2 to 3 foot circle. We never found anything else and weren't sure about these so gave up and left. May be worth making another trip. Again thanks alot!!

Hey Deuce nice finds I got a friend that found some clay beads just like that. Oh wait, maybe you know him. Im going down in there tommorow beat you to the punch. Hopefully we can find some more down in there. Perhaps that site will give us more then just beads. Talk to you later on.

You guys from Maine, I would keep all your finds, everything, because being newbies, you can never tell what you've found. :)
Nice haul there Deuce, congrats.

Molly :)

Thank you Molly! We have a real great time doing it!! We've only been doing this for about 3 weeks or so. Now it's my favorite past time. I'm very happy with our finds so far I can't even imagine want is yet to come.

Hey Coach ( Mainer ) it's good to know I still have some real friends out there. I'd never do that to you! ;D No really go for it! If I don't have to work I'll be there. I'm hoping this new spot will turn up some real cool things. Let me know what you find!
