I found these in a new subdivision on the bank of a marsh. The area (about +4000 acres) was split into 13 plantation pre civil war. Post civil war 1909 and on, it was one rich NYC banker's "hunt club". His mansion burnt to the ground in 1929 and its been a timber companies "hunt club" since. Now it's a ritzy subdivision, which gets us back to today. The marsh slew I found these in barely had remnants of dock structures. It looks like drift wood now. I found these, a 1880 penny, and 7 1911~ish 12 gauge shell ends. You can see the remnants of the paper in a few of them.

they appear to be handmade. the ends and shafts look hand hammered. The ends look soldered

Looks like pins that held timbers together. Yeah to bad on the subdivision .At least hunt clubs take care of the land : (. We are losing so much land its alarming.
Good hunt and nice treasure.
