I found this a few years ago at lake george ny. It was in the lake 9 ft down, I almost froze to death getting it!
It's my good luck piece, Cause the next day I was at the Philly airport waiting to get on a cross country flight to denver at 7:45 am
The date was 09-11-01 and the world trade centers went up in smoke just minutes later...dano91 is short for danman911 where I got the nickname. My wife say's we are survivors.
Anyway it's 8 1/2 inches long and hand made no idea how old

it's a gaff like a fireman would use, they are also used on ships and various other applications for prying and or retrieving.

I believe Boaz got it. I think its a "peavie" , a tool for maneuvering logs that are afloat.

They were also used in harvesting ice blocks back when everybody needed ice for keeping their perishables cold . Ice harvesting was a huge industry back in the 1800 's . That looks like a nice early one !
