Block and Tackle?

securedownload (1).webp
Found this near an old bridge site down by the river circa 1889-1900 weight aprox 100 lbs

It's common to find construction items around bridge sites. I have two large jacks found when they replaced a bridge on the Red River in Central Louisiana. Often the construction crews would loose a heavy item that normally fell to the bottom of the river bed or was lost in river mud. Thats a nice large block.

We found it last year and just reburied it.Upon relocation somebody else had found it and I think we got it in the nick
of time.thinking of selling it but have no idea of the value.

Perhaps a cable stringing rig used for a small or moderate sized suspension bridge.
I can't find an example or suggest exactly how it would be employed. It just has that look.
