Blingie's ugly cousin

Saturday morning I waded out into the Gulf of Mexico for the last time until it warms up. The pickings were slim and I normally wouldn't have posted about it. However, my last keeper of the day appears to be Blingie's ugly cousin! I had to share so that WHADIFIND could see whadifound!

My other meager keepers were: a 2015 Mardi Gras doubloon, 2 quarters, 1 nickel, 2 pennies.

All I can say is imitation is the ultimate compliment! ;)

Nice finds.......despite the missing link in Blingie's family!

:)

I hunted in the Gulf off the coast of Florida around Christmas and New Years. It was snowing in NYC at the time. Although I wore a wet suit, I found the temps to be quite comfortable. What are the water and ambient temps where you are hunting.

SAY IT ISNT SO , BLINGIE HAS A TWIN ....

Those mardi gras doubloons sure get you excited for a moment, especially the non-colored ones.
When the winter comes around the North winds will push the tide out past the piers.
All you need is a good warm pair of waterproof boots and a towel to dry your hands.
You will be able to walk out to areas where it is normally waist deep and you will be standing in an inch of water or less.
This is my most favorable time to water hunt, because you don't have to wade, and I believe the old stuff will be shallower the farther out you go.
Damn man made beaches. If you look at the old pics of our sea-wall you will see 10' of seawall. Nowadays with all the fill sand you will only see about a foot of sea-wall, if that much.

I found one not too long ago... I'll have to dig him out when I get home. We should find a way to post a family reunion thread for Blingy. He'd appreciate it, I'm sure.

Not the way Blingie talks about his family! :censored: :nono:

Saturday the temp was in the 50s. When I set my foot in the water, it about froze off. However, I got used to it real quick and had a good time.
Sunday, on the other hand....was in the 30s and the wind was somewhere between 15-20 mph. I decided to skip. I didn't even leave my parents house.

I will have to check with you or my parents to know when this happens. Then I will take your advice and head back into the water with the CZ20. In the meantime, I plan on bringing my F75 or Tejon and hitting parks and/or hinting to certain folks  for an invite.

This is that time of the year when it begins.
Just check the tides and the weather.
Best is low tide of course, or right before and after.
Also whenever the cold fronts are coming i.e. temps drop. The north winds will be coming with the fronts.
Its crazy, but it pushes the water way out. You just have to be dressed appropriately.
Also its best to do this on a sunny day, as the overcast will make it seem colder.
I have some insulated waterproof snowboots I recently bought and used them last year, and my feet were very warm.
I know its kind of extreme, but when it gets cold, its cold no matter where you hunt.
As long as our ground doesn't freeze, which it never does, ill be swinging some this winter.
Actually going tomorrow, back to the site I dug the real sunday. On land of course.
