Very nice and a great re-use. No better way to be environmentally friendly than to re-use. They even give extra Leed credits now for reusing architectural components.
 

Not sure what a Leeds credit is .... but yes it is a shame to see great stuff like this go to the pit of doom

awesome, I have a similar one, we had blankets in it but my wife is due for our first child together and we put her baby blankets and toys in it :)

no lock on this one a home made temp lid is on it as the oem is gone along with the lock, i found this covered in bird poop and car parts stuck in the rafter in spring house ,,,,, i don't let the kids play with it or in it ..
A safety note on hope chests: A few towns away from me a couple of children suffocated in a hope chest. It had a lock that couldn't be opened from the inside.
