Blank penny?

Do unstamped coins have any value? I received a penny blank in my pocket change. The color and size seem to be right, it just never got stamped. I can't imagine anyone making penny slugs, so I was wondering if others have found blank coins and if there is any real value to them.

i believe they are called planchets and do have a premium.I believe it is somewhere around 3 to 4 dollars.
