I dug this up at the plantation property. It looks like a blade or tool of some sorts. It is made of iron and measures 8" long.
As you can see it has three notches in it too.
Could this be off of a piece of farm equip.?
Thanks for your help,
MM

Thanks Don. I thought it would be some equipment related item. I was hoping for a weapon. ;D ;)

I agree with justgeese...

Doug - If you tie a string around that thing and start twirling it in circles... then smash someone in the head - let's not see if it's a weapon!

Jim,
I like being called "Dong", but "Dung" is another thing. Unfortunately, my wife calls me the latter. :'( :'( :'(
My Italian in-laws used to pronounce Doug as "Dog". I'm not sure if they really couldn't pronounce my name, or they were putting me down on purpose? ???

Nick,
What do you think? ;D

Doug (Doung, Dog, Dong,Dung,Dug) Sounds like a Vietnamese guy I used to know. ;D ;D ;D

Hmmmm.... The jury is still out here on that being a sickle bar blade as far as I'm concerned. I'm an old fart and grew up around horse drawn mowers and such I never saw one with a blade that long or with only one mounting hole. The ones that I 've seen were much shorter, triangular, and had two holes to rivet them to the sickle bar. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, just saying I've never seen one that size or shape. 2dgs

Im kinda inclined to say a type of spear tip. i cant tell from the pic but if the underside is concave then thatll blow my theory.

Did they grow tobacco on the plantation? I remember seeing at a local museum here once a tobacco spear point. I think it was used to stick a pile at least 8" tall. But I'm thinking it was narrower, not quite sure though, has been a long time since seeing it.
