Great find for you , major loss for a craftsman at the time of loss . Some clearer pics might help us help you more . Could also be fireplace tongs . Still ornate and a major loss .
 

Great find! These are coal tongs to be used in a fireplace to handle
hot coal embers or wood embers. They most likely have a brass finial on top with
the rest being iron or steel depending on their age.
The ember was used to light another fire or a smoking pipe.

As others have said. For a fireplace rather than a blacksmith. Here is a pair that my family has used for about 50 years, using them tonight as a matter of fact. Neat find. :icon_thumright:
