Blackbeard Pirate Relics, Gold Found...

"Navigational instruments were favorite targets of looting pirates, because the tools could easily be sold or traded, said archaeologist David Moore of the North Carolina Maritime Museum, who is working on the wreck site."

So I wonder why it would be found on a scuttled ship? Interesting.

Very good point.

because she was tricked * (double crossed)---- blackbeard was "down sizing" as they say these days -- so unbeknown to the bulk of his pirate crew he purposely ran the large vessel aground -- then he had one of his smaller vessels come alongside to "transfer goods" he put a hand picked crew on the smaller vessel while doing so -- once he finished the unloading of treasures --he left at gun point -- forcing the bulk of the crew to stay behind with nothing .--- in the hustle a little bit of things most likely got left behind most likely.

the poor guys left behind on the "stuck "ship got out of there as fast as they could --they knew that sooner or later other vessels wouls spot them and then it was merely a matter of time till "officals" would find and hang them -- so they "abandoned" ship --(rapidly)--- most likely they took what little they could but they could not take it all -- since they were within site of land and were not sailing in the ocean no need for sailing chart tools -- other more "useful" items most likely were taken -- ike food, water , arms and any treasure they might find .

Darren,

I am sure they couldn't get every single item aboard off and had to leave a good bit behind. Plus they are pirates and would not want to be caught in such a precarious situation and were probably in a hurry once it was determined they could not getthe vessel off.

Minimal amount of gold found and any of the items could have easily been left behind.
