I was cleaning up my garage, getting ready for winter and pulled 2 5 gallon buckets of sand/salt mix I got from the town yard here in Walpole MA last fall. I use this to spread on the driveway on icy days.
Since I am going to start panning on some of the streams up in NH I decided to put some lead flakes I have from casting bullets and try panning them out.
I was able to pan the flakes but got a bunch of black sand, about a thimble full from a 10" pan full of sand. Having read a thread about gold in Home Depot sand I wonder if it is worth running some more of this sand to see what may be in it. I was going to just dump it at the end of the driveway to fill in a couple holes.
