Hello-

Do you know about Black Jack Battlefield near Baldwin, Kansas? That field is about five miles from here. I am planning to use the detector on that field, but I heard that rumors said that field is not allow for anyone use the metal detector. I checked on the Black Jack Battlefield website and history battlefield website recently, there is no rules or policy about metal detector. I emailed to the person in the website and no answer since.

I drove on the highway by the field several times and not see any sign say no metal detector.

Do I have to permit to enter the field and work on the metal detector? If so, to who?

Let me know by email.
Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
Our metal detecting club was invited out to the Blackjack battlefield about 2 years ago to help prove a battle took place there. We had about 15 to 20 people out there for about 6 hours and were really dissapointed with our finds. Here are 2 links you can look at of pictures from our hunt. The first is a slide show that shows each individuals finds. When it opens up you will probably be asked to download an active X program to run it. http://www.mwas.org/shows/finds.htm This next link is of pictures of the Battlefield after they burned it off for us and of some of the finds http://www.mwas.org/blackjack/index.html You should check out our club page, we are in Kansas City and have a pretty active club. http://www.mwas.org
