I found this bottle probably 20 years ago. I brought it to a bottle shop back then and the guy's eyes bugged out of his head.
he said where did you get that, and proceeded to pick up a book and as he was flipping through he stopped on a page and showed me a picture of one similar and said it is a New Hampshire squats and if it were complete it was worth a lot. I guess my question is.
is it a New Hampshire squats? and if complete how much would it be worth. This will determine weather i go back to the site. cause I GOT THE WORST CASE OF POISON IVY!!!
Thanks, BK

I hope these pictures are better.

I'm not much of a glass guy, but I can tell you that better pics are needed for anyone to give you more info on your bottle.

Try using a non-white back ground for the pics.

You have a lot of shadows on the pic. Outdoor in bright sun should elimate them. We used to find old black glass here in the mangroves tossed out from ships. SWR is knowlegable on old bottles. You may also try the bottle forum.

Those pics are better but you broke the golden rule of never taking a picture into the sun lol. It does look cool for added effect though. ;D :icon_thumright:

Oh OK I understand. Black glass is not really black. As you have shown us, its an olive green color.

It appears to be broken on the lip and on the base.

black glass is a term used * --its a deep deep olive green that looks blackish --unless you got a bright sun behind it ;D

it appears to be some of the early to mid 1800 new england style "black" glass --if it was intact yes its collectible -- how much you can get for it depends on how cheaply you will sell it and how much a buyer will offer for it -- judge current market prices via e bay or various bottle collecting books to price it accordingly

Thanks, Ivan I cant find a comparable one, so as to price I'm stumped? I will be going back this spring. Maybe i will find one intact. The farm house that used this dump dates to early 1700's. I will use gloves! The case of poison ivy I got still makes me itch lol. It sucked.
Once again Thanks Broken Knee

Hi black glass in a 1700`s dump I`d dig the $hit out of that dump could be big bucks in bottles that old and if you get poison ivy try grinding the roots from impatience plants into a salve works wonders good luck and keep us posted Jeff
