I found this in the South Carolina low county. I is very atypical of what I have run across so far. It is not magnetic that I can discern. It rang up at 86-87 on the AT-Pro. It has a weight of 64 grams. It seems to have a specific gravity around 5.33 (done with a kitchen scale and a wine glass of water for displacement - so it is likely not perfect). It is clearly conductive, but less dense than iron, lead, and silver. It is more dense than aluminum for sure - that can be felt in the hand easily. It is pretty cold to the touch indicating that it is largely made of metal. The shape is odd, and there appears to be dimpling on one side if the item in particular.
I thought maybe it was some slag, but there is nothing nearby that would be a source, and it is not magnetic. I think most slag is. Then again, it seems most meteorites are magnetic as well. The silver scratch on the photo is from my digging tool when recovering the object.
So, basically I have no clue. I am pretty sure that it is not a meteorite as that would just be insane, but I am having trouble figuring out what it might be. Any help is appreciated!
