Bitters

Here's one. Dug on a very cold spring day. There was still a foot & a half of frozen ground...

I celebrated later with pierogis.

Wow!!!!!! Milk glass!!!! I have seen some broken milk glass while digging. Was it a dump or privy find? Do you still have it? If so, can we see more pictures? Man, i love this bottle. Simply gorgeous.

For a layperson, could you explain what makes bitters bottles better?

Here is my entry. This bottle was a bonus, eye find when I was digging a target while metal detecting this spring. I have dug many bottles in the past but this is the only bitters bottle.

they are nit "better" by any means. It was just a personal request and i really enjoy the bitters. Makers of bitters claimed their product cured just about anything and i enjoy reading their claims

Nice finds RelicDude. As common as the Hostetters was, i have yet to encounter any remnants of one in my area.

These are the oonly two I've Gotten whole .I was digging a bunch of broken yellow hostetters drakes plantation bitters and Warner's safe bottles though there has to be a complete one somewhere at my spot.

Hope you get one

Well I wish the pictures were a little better but here are some of mine. Someone told me that the honey colored bottle was an early not embossed Hostetter's bitters. The aqua one on the right is a J. Walker's Vinegar Bitters that is embossed on the bottom. Thank's for looking.

I finally got Cecil Munseys bottle collecting book and Surf was right,it was THE book to get for reading up on all these different types of bottles.I scored an older used copy and even though the pictures are in black and white it is still a fascinating read. The mister has a common Hostetters up for sale at the antique booth we sell in but I don't have a bitters of my own(yet),maybe some day.
