Bits'nPieces and a roman Brooch/Fibula

Got out in beautiful sunshine, thanks UK blokes for sending over! :occasion14: Just above freezing with very little wind. Did the outskirts of the roman villa site from last sunday with little success. Changed the site to the next villa about a mile away. Also not many finds other than alot of cal. .50 and driving band fragments of all calibers. This area closer to the road was hit hard by US artillery and fighter bombers in winter 44. Got lots of trash and my biggest musket ball, close to 1"(!) and a beautiful condition roman fibula. Also a little Silver and a good condition copper turned up.

Nice! Congrats!

I get a kick out of you Lu. You find Roman stuff, silver and a coin from 1784 and it's a ho-hum day for you. Time for the gold. Good luck.

yeah he has it tooo easy

Hi . fibula nice ,Congrats . ossi :hello:

nice finds! gz! :icon_thumleft:

I would say that if that Brooch was found in the UK, it stood a better chance of being Celtic than Roman.
La Tene Type III - 1st C BC-1st C AD:
UK Finds Database - - - UKDFD

Doesn't matter were it was found it is a La Tene Brooch a culture which originates from Neuenburgersee in Switzerland, so more likely to be found in Westfronts neck of the woods. Great find Westfront, is this now your oldest Brooch..BC.

Woohoo! Thanks guys! We didn't get many brooches here so i'm not that familar with them. I first have to ask some experts. The ones on T-Net i like most! :occasion14:

Funny thing is, this is a field, stuffed with tons (!) of roman pottery and tiles but never had finds other than nails. We guessed roman brick manufacture. Still no roman finds from there and i'm really happy about that!
But i have another from yesterday, will post later....a real beaut!
