Sunday morning dawned clear and cool. I was tired after the success of Saturday, but excited about the prospects of finding more silver coins, so off I went to meet Smittyman around 9:00AM.
Here is a pic of the 94 coins dug, as well as some of the trash. If you only dig the "good" signals, you are missing keepers. Half the secret is being fast & efficient.
Now off to the good stuff. I hit a few Wheaties, then this worn 1920 Merc appeared.
Shortly there after, another Merc!
A poorly pinpointed Rosie is seen stuck in the sidewall of this hole. Oops.
As lunch time arrived, I checked my pouch, and this is what I saw... 5 silver coins. NICE.
After lunch, I switched the Deus from .900 (coin silver) to .925 (Sterling), and headed off to find something shiny, other than coins. It was not long until I got a "beer can" signal... however, it was not a can, it was fork! However, NOT like the forks I usually find.
It was a Westmorland Sterling fork! 47 grams of silver. The largest piece of silver I have ever found!
I trudged ahead, pouch heavy with spoils. A scratchy signal produced this flowery Sterling ring next.
It was quite a day, one of the best that I have ever had. Here is a pic of the silver items from Sunday.
Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!
PS: Not sure how those pics got down there, apparently, I outsmarted myself again!
