I am a lucky man. I have a family that supports my hobby. My step daughter came over and gave me a birthday present. A pair of detecting gloves and some nice knee pads. Gonna be styling while detecting. Woo Hoo!
I used to use knee pads...thinking on doing it again. Save those knees. I use gloves, but have not found a pair that don't get destroyed after a few uses. Cool presents.
You are a lucky man! My family asks what I want and when I tell them, they roll their eyes and ask me what is it! Example: a coil cover! If I can't circle it, find it on line, or write it all down my chances of getting what I wanted are the same as hell freezing over!
They got me a diamond tester one year, I love it, it is a good thing it works on batteries, because they ordered the European version-220 instead of 120! Oh well I guess they are trying...you are a lucky man!
it is always nice when the family or spouse embrace your hobby or interests, my wife has slowly become a detector on her own, while watching my excitement as well as benefiting from my finds. she helped me to up grade detectors (of course she got my old one, an up grade for herself as well) have more enjoyable digging now.
I guess the loved ones in our life can be forgiven for thinking we are a little obsessive. We swing this machine and dig for trash and pennies. Once in a while we come home with a ring that doesn't fit and an old coin or two. I think it takes a special person to have the patients and will to do this hobby. I can understand how others think it is a waste of time. I am thankful that there are those in my life that support it even if they don't understand why I like it.
I go through this every year for birthdays and Christmas... Wife asks me what I want and then gets me something else.I've stopped telling her anything and now she gets mad about that. It's a no win situation for me.
