I like looking at those displays whenever I go to that library. I'm glad that they found a place to display those artifacts. At least now they can be viewed by the public rather than getting boxed away in a museum basement. And to think that all those artifacts were under 1st Street all these years! The Scattered Village site is a good example of a protohistoric Mandan site.

Here is the complete online site report. There are some raised effigy faces on pottery similar to yours, as well as Le Beau Ware and Knife River ware pottery. You probably have seen this already but here it is again.

i am going to post them here for creek astro and bluebird as they didn't believe this
one of them said 'makers mark'

you know now i can see it well for some reason, bottom pic the piece in the back, you can see its brows or "horns" very well there
 

do you see the one at the lower left hand corner of the second image??

i see the one in the b/w photo, and in the piece in your hand the lower left hand corner i can see the two eyes but the rest is hard to see at this angle. but the one in back i can see perfectly 100%
