Billion Military Insignias. Help!

I picked these up in a collection of military items I bought. I haven't been able to find matches for either. They seem pretty old, just not sure how old. Hoping someone can shed a little light on them. Can anyone help??

My initial thought is British pre 1900, but I don't have anything to back that up. Just basing that thought on some similar insignia that I have had in the past
