Hi All. On a abandoned c.1911 house site and dug these two items. The sterling is a U.S. Army Marksman Pin. Would have been pretty neat to find the the clasp to see what the soldier was a marksman in. I searched and could not find. Will try again next time. :happy3: And also a huge Great Seal button, measures 1.13 inches. Thanks for looking and have a very Merry Christmas!

Nice finds!

Two real nice finds, and that's one big button.

Earned one of those myself in the 60's...a disappointment as I'd been shooting Sharpshooter level thruout basic trng but had a bad day when we fired for Qualification. Lost it somewhere after discharge....hey ! That could be it !!

really sweet finds

Congrats TM! I really like the sterling cross. GL&HH.

Thank you for your service! My dad is a Marine and was sharpshooter in both pistol and riffle with 2 tours in Nam. And I was born in Hawaii (I see your location). He passed away this past July and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. 1st Christmas in 47 years without him.

Thanks, I'm hoping the attachment is close by :dontknow:

Really good finds , are the pin components still intact on the back ? - you could replace the pin - that would look pretty nice on a
leather jacket.

Thanks! The pin/clasp is still there, but in really bad shape. Clasp will not open.

The marksman medal is really nice. Makes me wonder if the button came off the coat/jacket of the soldier who owned the medal.

Hi beez! I would venture to say yes...the backyard is not huge and were found within 50' of each other. But who knows. The house was lived in up to about 15 yrs ago when it was condemned.(bad flood) The house C.1911. It's such a shame, the house is awesome but is just falling apart. Owners do not to fix and county won't let them tear it down...so the answer is let it come down on it's own. Again, a real shame. (but i will keep diggin til they tell me i can't) :laughing7:
