Hey all-
Just got back from hunting with fellow t-netter Josh and what a day we had! We started at an old park near Seattle and it produced a few clad coins but after about an hour we were ready to try something different. So we found another old park and started hitting the areas that were original. After each of us finding some more clad Josh found a wheat cent while I found crushed beer cans. Not to be undone I ventured back to where I had walked and BAM! A loud solid signal. Thinking it was yet another beer can I dug a wide plug and started searching the hole. It was a full six inches and my pinpointer said it was still there. So I dug a little deeper around the edges and I saw something I thought was a round edge. Not knowing what it was I picked it up and an eagle was staring me in the face. My jaw dropped and my heart skipped a beat! Turning it over I saw the walking liberty and the date 1937! I screamed for Josh and he must have thought I found the Ark of the Covenant! I was yelling "Big Silver! Oh my God!" My hands were shaking as he ran over and slapped me on the back! I was shaking so bad!It looked like it had been dropped the day the man got it from the bank. Josh saw the mint mark and remarked it was a real good find to make in Seattle area. I'm still shaking! My first BIG SILVER! Thanks to Josh for letting me join him today. It has been awhile since we have hunted and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. What a day to find a find of lifetime on the West Coast!
P.S. Josh found a really cool motorcycle toy that dates to same time frame that I hope he will post. HH

slow and low that's how u find the dough

Congrats on the big silver!!

Thanks all. I know a 75 year old coin doesn't even get the blood pumping on the east coast, but for the west coast that is some find! Anyone with any ideas on value? I'm not selling but curious just the same.

Looks like you've got a D or S mint there - D is slightly preferable in higher grades - nice find

Congrats! it's always exciting to find a silver half!:hello2:

Congratulations on an amazing find Mr. M! :notworthy:
I still remember my first half dollar find, it was a 1917 Walker!

Congratulations on an Awesome Find! those Walking Liberty's are so beautiful.

Very few detectorists ever recover a walking liberty half, you are in a very small club! Nice work, hope there is more where that came from.

Very nice I have some walking liberties my mother has found 4 but I am stuck at zero for now

Nice!! I dug a 34 walker last month. I thought it was a can at first because I kept digging deeper and the propointer wasn't sounding off yet lol That thing plopped out and I almost had a heart attack. I have been searching the same park over and over for my first silver quarter and my first quarter (1939) was in the same whole as the half!!!! lol I literally left because I felt like my day couldn't get any better

I was the other hunter with him that day. Took him to this park hoping atleast one of us could pull something decent. I had been there one time before on sort of a scouting trip with little success. The history is there though, I knew something good had to be in the ground somewhere. When I could hear the shouts from across the hill, I knew he got silver. The excitement was great, all smiles and a high five followed the recovery. Oh and it is an S mintmark for whomever commented on that. I may post the little motorcycle I found a little later. HH! And again, nice job Chris!!

You can tell they want to be found... they hold there hand out saying "pull me out of the ground!" lol
