Formerly New Orleans.. Now Pueblo Co
Detector(s) used
several, mostly Garrett
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
No work today due to some permit issues so I decided to go hit an old park near the site on the way home. As usual I got a lot of trash which is a problem here in the parks, but a few good finds popped out as well. I was hunting an area near some huge oak trees and got a good signal and dug this nice watch chain. I thought it was a necklace, until I saw the ends. I thought I had GOLD!!! Close inspection showed a mark of 1/20 12kt GF......well it's still a neat chain and I think I'll keep it.

A short time later I popped out what I thought was just a random button, but upon cleaning it I think I may have a CW era Navy Button,(experts help please) The backmark is "SUPERIOR QUALITY" with stars separating the words.

Last good find of the day was in a freshly dug area and may be the best of the day. It's a class of 58 ring from the University of Miami, I can make out Balfour Sterling inside and the worn remnants of engraved initials.

The last discovery today was that I need to get a new camera because mine refuses to take decent pics..... >:(

Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting.....Now that we've been getting some rain so the ground isn't like concrete and it's cooled off a bit I plan to get in a lot of hunting.

rare to Find a silver class ring, Only found one
in My lifetime.

Cool

very nice ring ...congrats !

Thanks all!

I'm still trying to make sense of the initials in the ring.....I wish my camera was a bit better than it is. I think I see J. A. F. but it's so worn I can't tell......

Nice Finds!!
I checked my Tice, it lists your button as NA230, but the CW era backmark list
doesn't include a 'Superior Quality' :help:
Nice button regardless
Sterling class rings are a scarce find, with the comments added stating never seen,
I'll throw in a photo of one I dug a while back.
Full name legible, no phone listings for her, I contacted the organizer for her last class reunion, and contacted the school asking if they could inform her.
No reply from either :dontknow:
Great digs! Many more to ya

Sweet finds for sure! Congrats! Plan on doing any research on that class ring to see about getting it back to the owner, or just gonna hang on to it? It's a nice looking ring for sure! :icon_thumleft:

I don't think you will ever find the owner to that old ring. He would be about 72, if he made it that far. HH

Thanks all, I can't really tell what the initials are, so I guess I'll hang on to it. Too bad about the button, but it's still really cool to me.

Still a great button. For future reference, the fluke of the anchor is under the wing on most (but not all) CW era buttons.

OK, the class ring is kinda nice! :laughing7:
But this watch chain is definitely my favourite of your finds Ken!

Congrats on both buddy,
Dave
