went to a old time fav spot of mine in CT. this morn
got off to a late start and long line at the entrance got me in the water later than wanted
and it also meant more people in the water limiting where I could go
started off real slow and thought I might be looking at a skunk
got a real faint signal and was surprised when I saw IH penny at bottom of my scoop
been yrs since I got one here and usually not in this area - 1900
was happy to get something old - locals pepper here (2 hr drive for me) and
as you can see they get most of the fresh drops - but last few times here in the past - I know if I
cant get the new stuff - I can slow down and usually pull something deep - got in a spot with deep large old iron
tried working thru it - got a faint signal in middle of some huge iron targets - was surprised when I saw large disc come up
this is my 9th silver half this year - not to far away got another whisper and thought I might have a silver dime -
nice to see glint of gold amongst the rocks and shells in my scoop - was down about 1 1/2 feet
silver chain was down real deep and was encrusted - it must have had a silver medal on it at one time
think someone else may have walked away with it and missed the chain - I checked the whole area to no avail
looking for it - once again I was hoping for a fresh gold drop or 2 or 3... but was happy with a few old coins and
a nice old gold :icon_thumleft:

we call them "cookie coins" - this one will most likely stay the way it is - I like the scallop shell stuck to it
silver caked like this from this spot from past experience - when cleaned come out super crappy and real thin - so not worth the trouble to clean

I hunted in all metal - notice the lack of trash - one thing I can say about most of the hunters up here
we try and take it all out - wish I could haul some of the huge deep iron out - think there are some goodies next to some of it or under it
but nice when the only junk is the steel earrings others discrim and that's it

Very Nice!! :occasion14:

yea they are less then junk grade for sure, dime weigh average about 1.0 gram, way less then the 2.5 they should, no dates, and tons of work to clean up. heres a few paper thin coins. dont have a before pic, but these are freshwater also. certain freshwater lakes wreck silver, others not far away come out like new....wierd. in the bad lakes even the clad quarters and dimes wont work in vending machines cuz they are underweight due to the copper in the middle eaten away, you can actually stick your fingernail in the void where the copper ring used to be.

always wonder how it would be - if I lived real close to the shore up here or in Fla. where I could go out everyday if I wanted

that's a nice hunt- I like that old gold

silver half will find its way in here at end of year
my coffee table - this is an old pic when I first started putting it together
its got 4-5 times the silver now and the other 2 compartments are pretty full
one side has 1600s into 1800s - the other has mid/late 1800s relics and a few coins - up to like the 60s

Very cool display piece Casper. I need to make or find something like that. My finds are all in shoe boxes.

THX ... wish I had bought a second one - I had posted it on a bunch of different forums yrs ago and people wanted to know where I got it
I went to order another - sold out and discontinued - I have a matching end table - also with finds in it - same thing
bought one to see if I'd like - tried ordering a second - no go

end table - some CW finds
shield - V - buffalo nickles
indian artifacts
and colonial coppers...large cents and some indian heads
stuff in these tables is a sampling - no where near what I actually have found - been at this since 1975

Hey Casper - We had almost the same hunt today, I came out with a bunch of silver and 1 little Gold ring. Crazy thing, my ring looks almost the same as yours!!

That's another great haul for you , Casper!

I love that silver chain; I'm about due for one of those...I'll keep trying

Congrats on fine detecting...again!

Lorraine
