I'd like to say it's my find but.....
We got a new permission close to where the seated and trime came from last week. It was my birthday today so I was suppose to find the silver. Lol
Things were slow with our only worthy finds a v-nickel for me and a OD nickel for the kid. My v-nickel was the best one I've ever dug and it looks like it's counter stamped?
The home owner today kept following me around asking me to look for water pipes and property markers? We started off following a water line down the right side of the driveway from the road to the house. While I was doing this the kid was searching just off the right side of the driveway yards from my line? After a few more searches with the homeowner, the kid tells me he got a good hit half way down the right side of the driveway go check it out.
I thought he told me it rang up 87-89 so I'm thinking silver quarter. I find the hit but, on my machine it's ringing up 94-95.
I dig a plug and see silver in the hole. It looks too big to be a half? A little clean up and it's not a silver half, it's a 1900 Morgan silver dollar, WOW!!!! He tells me later he thought he told me it rang up like 98-99 for him.

Great find! I have only found one of those...

Rinse it off and lets get another close up. Make that close ups of both coins. That V nick does look funky. Great job to you and your kid today and for helping out the home owner.

I say the kid gets credit for the Morgan, he thinks it's a joint find. Lol I might have a foot in the door to join the club, not sure I'm a member yet though. Lol

Stellar find!! I stumbled scross a Peace Dollar a couple years ago...but that Morgan is a beauty!! Congrats n happy birthday...Ddf

Good teamwork to recover that one, and its in nice condition too. IMO the Morgan dollar is American's best designed coin.

Well done on the Morgan.
Happy birthday and glad.you and your son spent it together. The "L" on the V nickel looks to have been privately punched after it left the mint.
Congratulations

Happy Birthday, and congrats to both of you on a great find. I have been fortunate enough to dig 3 Morgans, and the excitement never ends with that coin. You will be just as excited when your next one shows up, as you were with this one.

Bet someone was sad the day that went missing. That was a days wage to many back then.

Congrats on the finds! Mrs Morgan cleaned up nice.
Nice to find something with 1900 on it.

BIG congrats on the Morgan! Wow... I see that coin in my dreams often, however, I never see it in the pouch.

That V nickel is really sweet too. I have a couple of decent ones, but yours is exceptionally nice.

Glad that you scored BIG.

Thanks for all the b-day wishes everyone!! It was a good day overall.
Getting to dig the kids Morgan was Awesome and to be a part of a once in a lifetime find. Sweet!!
I was pretty excited finding the v-nickel in the shape it was in. I wasn't sure what I had at first, all my v's are pretty toasted.
Here's an enlargement showing the L stamp a little better.
