Re: big sandy's i think

I'm fairly certain the third one down is a Graham Cave.

Re: big sandy's i think

Are the bases all heavily ground or at least ground at all? Most of your Archaic Side Notch Points(Big Sandy) will have very heavy basal grinding.

Re: big sandy's i think

If they they do not have basal grinding would they be considered Godars

Re: big sandy's i think

I think godars can be ground. when the ears are rounded it's a godar; if they're squared it's big sandy.

These are in the right area to be big sandys.

Re: big sandy's i think

They sure look like Big Sandys, trouble is the Brewerton Side Notched are VERY similar. They two are often mistaken for each other. Like Steve said, its all down to the heavy basal grinding, that's the only real difference.

Nice finds though. I like the Side Notched points, I haven't nearly enough..

Molly.

Re: big sandy's i think

I call both of these Big Sandys since both have very heavy basal grinding.

Re: big sandy's i think

I would have typed those as Kirks, But what do I know..lol.
Notches seem long for Big Sandys.
