Hello my friends.

I try to explain you my problem with my excalibur II and sorry for my bad english...

When I turn on my detector by turning the "threshold", I hear a loud noise, as if I turned the knob of "threshold" directly to the bottom.
It is a continuous sound with virtually no change in sound.
When I pass a target to the sensor head, there is no reaction, and the sound is continuous.
Does someone already had this problem? Is this serious? Who you it has repaired?

Thank you in advance >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

No need to apologize for "bad" English as most of the hunters here use worse. :laughing7:

I agree, it sounds like you just need a good charge.

I have checked with a second battery and the problem is still there.

In "Disc", the sound is strong and does not change at all when you pass a ring in front of the sensor head.
For cons, I just realized that fashion "Pinpoint", the sound is still going strong, but when moving a ring in front of the sensor head refers to the "beeping", but always with the strong background noise (as if the threshold was still thoroughly !!!).

Question..is it still under warrenty?

If not the battery..then my second guess would be the coil, I would take the coil cover off and check for cracks on the bottom of the coil........ all the way up the coil cable to the pod..look for water seeping. Let it dry for a couple days and see if it improves..warm but NOT direct sunlight

My third guess would be the On/Threshold potentiometer..the Excal II have had this issues before also.

Indeed potentiometer "threshold" can rotate 360 °, there is no stop.
Do you think this can come from this control

The Excal ll will do that if the battery is below 12 volts. I bought a rapid charger from Only Batteries and the problem was eliminated. The Excal charger sometimes needs 20hrs. to charge the battery correctly

you might want to take plastic dial off and make sure its not just stripped.....can you see the metal shaft rotating when you turn the plastic knob...if not you can remove plastic dial and rotate the threshold shaft with pliers...be gentle ...if the plastic knob does not stop beyond 360 degrees then it sounds like stripped knob... ggood luck....

BOSSman you need to take the knob off to see if she rotates a full 360...like BH said............

Take off the coil cover and wash it thourghly!

sand in my coil cover caused me some headaches a few years ago. I ditched the coil cover and epoxied the bottom of the coil. No problems since.
