Hey Guys,
Ive been getting out and digging alot this past week or two and I was able to get a few keepers along with a really nice and BIG 42lb. Cannonball. This ball is a solid shot, and as you can imagine, it was quite a task to get it up and out of the hole and back to the truck. The hardest part is getting it out of the ground, it is so heavy that you cannot simply pull it straight out but have to use your shovel in a co-ordinated effort. Once out, I held it on the front of my shoulder just above my collar bone and was able to hike it out like that, coming back for my gear. I've dug alot of Civil War and colonial relics in this area over the years, but a piece this big is still a beautiful thing to pull out of the ground. I also managed a Seated Half Dime out of the old road bed as well as a clipped pistareen about ten feet off the road bed at the base of a pine tree but it came out in good shape despite this due to the sandy soil. Thanks for looking HH [/size]
