Big Fishing Boat Hook Thing?

Last week a fish shack on pilings down in a cove on the coast gave way . A good friend of mine got permission to go in to salvage stuff ( he new the people ) The demolition crew was coming by in 2 days , he called me but I was out of state visiting my father . Anyway he plopped a bunch of stuff in my driveway , this is one of the items . Not sure what it was for ? But it is nicely spliced .

Cargo hook. The little hole in the tip is to "mouse" the end with line or string so the rope/chain/loop/netting being lifted doesn't slip out if the line goes slack.
