I went down to the peninsula today for a couple of hours. I put on the X5 teeny weenie coil and worked my way around the sick amount of nails. I have better luck with this little guy on in the heavy trash.

I didn't have much luck in the area that is hunted out, so I hit the perimeter. I need to go back and hit that perimeter a bit more...

Big Copper and Artillery Button - I think it is a cartwheel, but I am not sure. Peroxide helped a bit and I could see Britannia on the back. It's quite crusty. I'll keep on cleaning it. The button is Artillery. I'm not sure of the era.... probably mid 1800's.

Nice finds! The button is cleaning up pretty good!

Nice finds! I just found one of those Blacks tokens last weekend. My first one!

Congrats on the artillery button..I have yet to find one....but I,m looking !!!

I got a couple of them Blacks coppers....looks like your having some success this spring on the buttons !!!

Congrats !!

That is a big copper, got a measurement in mm ?
Did you get it cleaned up a bit more. I'm "thinking" not cartwheel for even extreamly worn the "rim" remains noticable. However it does look larger than 34 mm, so it is interesting.

Nice button too. Is it one piece ? or not.

'Ole Dirty on the other forum didn't think it was either. Upon further inspection, it is smaller than the one real cartwheel I did find... I stuck it in some olive oil and I'll work on it. Perhaps it's one of those one penny tokens with Britannia on the back and the ship on front?

The button is open back. Here's a pic of it.

Royal Artillery. Appears to be 1790-1810. Nice find! Would like to see the coin cleaned up and reposted. Congrats............Hogge

You still didn't say what diameter ?

The button back helps, but one of a couple I looked at, as they were domed, but multi piece. (head scratch)

Good find for sure.

Good find for sure.

It looks to be around 32 mm, at most 33mm.

good stuff! looks like most of the detail is still there on that botton
