Went to Big Basin ski area over in Allegany State Park, NY. Skiing started in 1951 and closed in 1972. Slopes are growing up in brush and small trees now. Found this 1954 quarter, knife, one nickel and two pennies pretty close to each other. In the past its been a really good spot to find silver. On the way out I was zig-zaging through the woods headed back to the Suburban, when BAM, coins everywhere. Just my luck, no silver. ''or pennies'' Spill went from me back to the shovel. At the base of that little Birch tree to the right was a broken whiskey bottle and the last quarter. Maybe whiskey explains it, but 33 coins is a lot of coins to drop at one time. Was getting a broken signal under the log between the two holes.Thought it was iron, so I dug it after the photos. It was two more dimes. One was Canadian. (pictured with the knife) All in all, it was a good day.
Total Coins, 9 quarters, 19 dimes, 5 nickles.
And yes I did fill in the holes and covered with leaves.
