Hi all,
Went hunting for a bit today. Went to a local park that's not all that old,1960's , to scrounge some clad. I did find a silver Rosie there once. But nothing real old.Not even many wheaties.

Well today i found this
front.jpgIMG_20170430_201958426.jpg
After some research , its a 1934 sun yat-sen "junk" silver dollar. Junk being the boat on the reverse.
There were counterfeit ones made, mine is at least nonmagnetic. and weights the correct amount (27 grams). Tomorrow ill have it checked. Do hope its real.

It wasn't deep, almost a floater, just under the grass, so i dont believe its been there long.
Being in California , i've found lots of foreign coins. Canadian and Mexican coins are a given, i've also found Australian , Brazilian , Hong Kong , Euro and Japanese coins. And now Chinese.

Also found $4.88 in clad

Very nice!! That's something you don't find everyday in the states. Well done! Congrats and HH

I sure hope that it is the real deal. Please update us.

Much better than the "junk" I find!

Awesome, I hope it is silver for you. I always wonder if the large silver coins found in park or sports fields are the "heads or tails" coins from referees...Sub 8-)

A good find to extend your list and showcase!

Nice find if its real, interesting find if it's not. Yes, Chinese dollars are heavily counterfeited and there are numerous fantasy pieces. They ring like silver and look right. Hopefully, yours is the real deal.

Well its ............counterfeit ! Got a good look at it in the sun with a jewelers loupe. i could see gold color coming through on high spots. Oh well , still a cool find with interesting history.

Strange thing, the parks across the street from TWO jewelers that buys gold and silver. It was pretty much a floater. I think someone took it into the jewelers to sell, found out its fake and chucked it into the park ?

So im the proud owner of a counterfeited 1934 Chinese sun yat-sen "junk" silver dollar. Very interesting !
