I was a big Janis fan, in fact the day she died when I heard it on the radio I told the sergeant I worked for I was going to the barracks, he asked was I sick, I told him no Janis Joplin died, he asked who was Janis Joplin. He was a different generation then I was being a tech sergeant and I was only a buck. He did allow me to leave with no argument, I went to barracks then when roommate he and I with to the NCO club and got drunk.
