Bicentenial and proof question

Is there 2 different silver Bicentennial (1776-1976) half dollars? Ie. 40% and maybe a full silver?

I also wondered if the state quarters were issued as silver proofs.

Thanks.

There were state quarter silver proofs.

Bicentennial:

Proof 40%
UNC 40%
Proof Clad
Business Strike Clad

I found a bicentennial today that is an "s," mint mark. It's silver but it looks like its 90% or more. No copper layer can be seen at all.

Some 40% are like that, but if you weight it on a gram scale, you'll see the difference between 40% and 90%

Cool thanks. I'll have to get one.

ya the Bicen halves were only 40%, I had asked this question a while back and there was confirmation from several "old hats" that they were only 40%

Cool. Thanks everyone.

Silver proofs are 90%ers right?

Incorrect. In '68, '69, and '70, proofs were 40%. Sag was correct for other issues.

True, I was thinking about later silver proofs. I thought it would be obvious that when 40%ers were made for circulation, the proofs would also be 40%.
