Minelab Xterra 705,
Bazooka Snipers (24" and 30").

Thompson 12V Puffer Drywasher.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Sluice Aileron

I'm lying in bed, tossing and turning and I start thinking about the little Bazooka Sniper and how to increase flow.
So I had this idea about making "wings" to attach to the opening and I thought I would share and open it up for opinions...
Made from 1/8" thick ABS sheet - same as the BGT itself.

Pics below based around a BGT 24" Sniper - but will work with all Mini's and Sniper's.

Of course I this is for Sniper's and Mini's - The big BGT's probably don't need it.

I may try and make some this rainy weekend.
Jig saw - hot air gun - and a little trial and error

Hope it makes sense... and please - input welcome.
PS - PAT PENDING :laughing7: even though now it is officially "public domain"

Got around to making a pair today.
I think they will work very nicely indeed.

And it turns my 24"er into a 36"+

Can't wait to try them out.

I recomend a lower one also. The most critical seal is the one under the box. Getting the water than is escaping under the box into the scoop is very helpful in all flow situations.

In this pic the bottom is sealed very well you can see that I actually done have too much of a side dam to keep the flow regulated the way I wanted it.

I like the concept and thought/process/design, and production that went into this. Please let us know how it performs!

Very cool. Please take some video in action if you can. Love the idea.

Update #2 -
Thank you all for the props.
And Goldwasher for input and suggestions.
I think I have the final piece of the puzzle per Goldwasher's suggestion and created a Lower louver or tail.

The tail folds up nicely and all three parts fit inside the BGT chamber with minimal added weight.
I hope to get out this week or by weekend to try them out.
I'll have to break out the Go-Pro for some vids as well.

I am now taking orders for the "Fin Kit" :laughing7:
I see no reason why this would not work on your typical Aluminum Sluice box as well, clipping on to the header box.

Cheers all!

I haven't even seen it in action and I know this is a awesome MOD. Again great idea, might have to cut a deal with the "bazooka people"

Thanks MTS!
I really just meant to share with all the great people and DIYer's here on T-net.
By all means please, Bazooka People, contact me - maybe we can work a deal :occasion14: LOL.

Very good idea and nicely done ! BUT if something gets bumped or the current picks up how secure is this wing to the sluice ? Ive seen lots of plastic sluices washed down the stream if NOT tethered to something ! But I like your thoughts in this and being able to use this on other sluices as well!

Very cool design and workmanship. Additionally you can lay a large blue tarp on your dam and it will help increase flow to the box. Good luck in your pursuits

I could see using the bottom flap by itself the most. Usually that where you lose your water underneath

Awesome idea!

Thank you all for your input.
I am shooting for trying 2 sets out tomorrow (playing hooky).
I will be using both my 24" sniper as well as my 30" sniper and a set of Sluice Aileron's (new name) on each.

Pictures and feedback to follow.

Sorry wont work like you think except in limited conditions. The bottom seal needs to be water tight with the wings. Plus wont work at much of an angle due to the wings sticking out of the water.

Been there done that Feb 2013: Fold out wing dam for fluidbed.
I suggest you build a large flair with adjustable pitch and it will do the job
