I Pretty much need a flame thrower to thaw the ground where I live here in Southern New England so I drove down to the beach to try my luck.

After braving strong frigid winds and stinging, blowing sand I had $0.51 hard earned cents to show for it...
Yet I also brought home a grin from ear to ear after a fine day of fresh, salty air and metal detecting!

Happy Hunting and Happy New Year!

A good day out hunting is a always a good day !

Sand beaches, bare ground and areas where the grass is real short always freeze first.
When it's very cold out I hunt in the woods - you can usually dig through ground that's covered with leaves all Winter long.

Congratulations on your effort. Always good therapy to get a lung full of saltwater air.

More than you had than when you started, I always say. Freezing on the beach beats freezing on the prairie too!
Well yes, KellycoDetectors. I would have to agree. I am partial to the view at the shore.

I stayed pretty much in the dry sand, E-Trac-Ohio and the wet sand areas were not yet frozen. :icon_thumleft:

Indeed, dts52. This is the first time I've been to the beach this year! I really missed it.

Always nice to get out, no matter the luck. Beats sitting on the couch watching Oprah!
