I bet that had you going for a few :o If it was silver it would have been a hunker :o

No doubt you know, but once you have handled dozens of silver items, you can tell almost instantly if its good or not.
Had me going maybe 2 seconds while I was wiping woodchip debris away from it and saw the glare of diamonds, but as soon as I got a grip on it and a good look, I knew it was plated junk.

Of course, that didn't stop me from almost tripping down the steps running to get my magnifying glass once I got home, just to confirm what I already knew.

I still like that ring. :icon_thumleft: No matter how many times I pull a ring out of the ground I always hope for the best, but many times I get a nice piece of costume jewerly. I won't complain

Most non metal detectors probably get the wrong impression when we describe something like this as "junk".
I for one sure don't throw any out.
My daughters snag up a few select pieces, the rest gets put in my junk jewelry box.
I'll start a junk jewelry thread some time, should be interesting.
