Best Time to Hunt the OBX??

I know right after a storm but what is the best time of year to hunt the northern OBX. I want to try to find an old shipwreck coin. I have access to a place in Corolla most of the year unless it is rented out.

Feel free to post a reply or send me a PM. I would love to go out hunting with a local that can show me the ropes of NC beaches.
