Went fishing with a friend of mine just in the plymouth NH area. Noticed a smooth bedrock outcrop with a crack. Since the fishing was slow i took out my pan and the lug nut wrench from my car. I picked the crack down 6" and panned her out. Best single pan ever. Were heading back next week. This was a very obvious spot not on the wild am or in that drainage

Grats, Grizzly! - never thought about using a tire iron. Everything else in the kitchen and garage though! :laughing7:

Heres a pic of the spot. Its a lone smooth bedrock slab with a 2" crack running with the flow of the river and a bigger separated crack running perpendicular to the bank. I dug out the small crack and it had packed material with clay mixed in. It cleared quickly and was loaded with black sand and gold. This is NOT the situation i look for usually when i snipe bedrock. This is the first gold ive found on smooth light colored granite. It puzzles me. I dont know if i should return or prospect up the drainage looking for better areas. With 20 good colors and many smaller per pan its hard not to want to hit the spot again for a good hard day.

If I thought that br had not been sniped by others (you can tell by fresh chipping, chiseling marks around cracks), I would get every last drop of clay, etc.
out of cracks (ALL the way to bottom) before looking elsewhere.
