I have a few to add to this list... Loved your choice too.

1- Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste Stones

2- I met a gin-soaked bar room queen in Memphis Stones

3- I see a red door and I want to paint it black Stones

4- "She was just seventeen...you know what I mean" Beatles

5- Strange brew -- kill what's inside of you Cream

6- You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever,
But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun. Cream

7- When the city of Atlantis stood serene above the sea, Cream
long time before our time when the world was free,
those were the days.

8- Well you can tell everyone I'm a down disgrace, Phil Collins
or drag my name all over the place,
I don't care anymore

9- How can I just let you walk away? Phil Collins

I have just skimmed the surface of some of the great opening lines from songs :icon_thumleft:

"Here's a story 'bout a sinner, who used to be a winner"

"Alcohol"--The kinks

Should be in my jukebox at the very bottom of my post.

I can not believe you allowed Phil Collins to hide under the skirts of the Stones and the Beatles and sneak in here. (I Am the Walrus, much better openin) Alas, get your motor runnin, head out on the highway, all that, I am back listenin to the white noise from the white boys.

Going the route of Steppenwolf won't help you without naming one of their most controversial songs "The Pusher."

Most of the classic rock albums from the 60's through early 70's had some great opening lyrics. I never even started going through all the Doors songs that would apply. Pretty much pick a group and you have some awesome opening lyrics.

Thanks--reminded me to add "monster" to my playlist. (See my sig)

I liked Monster, the long version. The Pusher was actually dull and boring, but the novelty was sayin g-d. When local bands did it, they would say 'cut down, the Pusher'. Back to openin lines. You would not expect it from me, but another catchy one is 'My name is Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiid, Kid Rock!' Sorry, it just made me want to turn it up when I heard that. His much better one, which doesn't open the song, but is when he comes in is 'Yee-haw Mother****er Let's Rock!' I don't know about that guy. He's derivative, not as much of a whigger as Eminem maybe. We appreciate the nod, yankee, but he ain't never ever gonna be considered southern rock. (Is that an oxymoron? Southern Rock?)

Gets better every time I hear it. 'I still feel 25, most of the time. I still raise a little cain with the boys.'
