This one I actually stepped on... did not see it until I lifted my foot. these points seem to be so close in color to the dirt... at times hard to see!
This is our most complete and "non dinged" artifact we have yet to find! Pretty exciting!
As are most of our finds... they are fairly crude and usually have a high spot on one of the sides.
Any idea on type of material or age and period?

Thanks Treefrog... yours indeed looks very similar to ours!!! (also looks similar to the blade we found in the post we did on the same day as this one)
Our area seems to be littered with chips and flakes and discarded chert. We found a couple of small hammer stones and possibly an adz type tool.
Most of the points we are finding seem to be crude and thick but indeed a worked artifact. I was under the impression that the oldest artifacts are the ones that are "finely" made... and the latest artifacts are crude and thicker! :dontknow:
Our assumption with finding most of these crudely worked artifacts meant it was of the latest period therefore around 2,000 years, or under, old.
So your input is wonderful.... and it dates our site at least to mid archaic!
If you go to my previous photos... you will see our dig site.
Thanks for your input... this is one amazing hobby!
