Hey guys,
While this year had a bit shorter season than would have liked, 4 months in the sandbox certainly didn't hold back another amazing year of recoveries. When I started swinging an ace-250 back in 2014, I never imagined what this hobby would become. Lots of hunts, holes, and new friends later, my passion for saving history continues to grow...along with my display cabinets . Given the frigid weather outside, figured I take the opportunity isolate the best of this year. For reference, this is my detecting style
2017 was definitely an incredible year for Revolutionary War relics. This items and increasingly rarer to find in the field, but research does seem to pay off. My most treasured finds all revolve around a small picket post. Among my favorite finds were a first USA enlisted button, powder tester, and baldrick sling buckle. On the civilian front, the luckenbooth trade brooch has a special place in my display given personal nature of the heirloom and the site from which it was recovered. Without further adieu, here's the best of 2017.
-USA Continental button
-Luckenbooth Silver Brooch
-Colonial Silver ring
-Gilt Copper Signet ring
-Revolutionary War Powder Tester
-Baldrick Sling Buckle
-18th century silver cuff
-1802 US Navy button
-1811 Regiment of Artillerist Cuff
-Confederate Script I coat button
-Union Navy Officer
While I'm not a coin shooter by any means, here's the highlight reel
-1718 KGI Halfpenny
-1781 1/2 Spanish Real
-1808 1/12 Skilling
-1839 Half Dime
-1856 Trime
-1857 Flying Eagle Cent
-1907 Barber Half
Here's a look at the rev war camp finds- certainly the best single hunt of 2017 along with a few honorable mentions. As always thanks for looking and good luck swinging in 2018.
