Best folk song ever

For my money........John Hartford singing Lorena

This song is from the American Civil War. It was popular with both sides. Some offecers forbade the song to be played in the camps, because many soldiers got so home sick that they just left the camps and went home! The video is from the PBS series "The Civil War" by Ken Burns.
RIP John Hartford.
Don.....

bought the tape & Watched the Movie once. tried to watch it again Fell asleep. Sold the tape.
Movie should have been Titled " a day in the life" although not a Bad movie , it really had no point to it,
almost could have been my life in my early years :tongue3: " Have friends, have fun, move on " :dontknow:
nothing mindblowing to write home and brag about :laughing9:

As for song, can't figure out what they were laughing at . was hard to hear but I think he said "it all started about 46 years ago"
and they Laughed ? :icon_scratch:

anyway , I never heard a folk song I liked, just not my style.

Is Arlo alive yet ?
