I had my eye on this old stone house that sits along the highway about 5 miles from my house. My research tells me it was a tavern/stagecoach stop back in the late 1700's. Eventually I got enought nerve to ask the landowner for permission to detect and he says yes. Couldn't beleive it!

I initially started detecting about 50 to 75 yards from the stone building and started hitting flat one piece buttons. Must of found a half dozen that day before finding my first coin, and OH what a surprise..............

The complete story can be found in the May 2000 issue of Western & Eastern treasures magazine.

My 3rd best find: 1793 Chain Cent
