had a good day with a nice variety.
I bought 110 in halves, and 2 boxes of dimes
results:
halves- 64, 66, 68, 69 2 were found in loose halves, 2 in rolls one being an end find. I thought it was gonna be loaded with them, but only the one in the roll.

dimes- a whole bunch of Canadians, 4 of them 68's, haven't magnet tested yet. A bunch of other mixed Canadian dates that were in great shape. 2 of them I believe are proofs. I threw at least 10 canadians back because of condition.
5 pence- not 1, not 2, but 3 1990 5 pence coins, I thought was pretty neat.
U.S. dimes-49, 59, 2 60's, 61, 63, and 3 64's

And my favorite find for the day (other than the 64 half)- a 1964 British Caribbean territories eastern group ten cent piece. I'm sure it is silver. I cannot find anything in my book on it though. It is in great shape, I've never seen one before.
This was probably my best dime search ever, at least in a long time. I am thinking about hunting a lot more dime boxes.
happy hunting all!

Sorry to say, but according to www.worldcoingallery.com there is no silver in this coin.

even if it's not silver, it's a keeper in my book. HOw often will you find one in the wild?
I looked at the page you have posted, but it doesn't say anything about metal composition. When I spotted the rim, it looked just like a u.s. silver dime, not like a canadian coin

Awesome day T, great score in dimes! Usually you can tell the 50% canadians just looking at them (if you've seen a few), good luck, I usually get 1 per 6 or 7, or so. Some halves, too! And that British '64 has got to be silver, just makes sense! ffd

thanks fistfull. I think its nickel brass though, found a website with all the metal content. I don't understand why they made them in nickel brass that year, I thought most world coins were silver then too. I'm still keeping it, probly won't find another one for years. I'm still happy with the finds, good silver count, lot of foreign coins that I will be adding to the collection.
I keep a lot of canadian coins just because I like them, but only if they are up to par condition wise. I have a big jar of canadians.
I think 1 of the 68's I found is silver, the rest have a different tone to them. I still keep all 68 canadian dimes, if I get a whole roll of them I will put them on e-bay and see what I get for them.

I plan on going back to that same bank tomorrow, buying a bunch more dimes. Maybe like 4 boxes. I hope to hit a bigger vein, we shall see.

Yep, very nice find indeed there Tim. I keep them too.

Here is a link to the metal content section of the page that skelly sent you:

http://worldcoingallery.com/values/E_caribbean.htm

Your ten cent piece is #5. It will show the ASW (Actual Silver Weight) or AGW (Actual Gold Weight); when it applies. Your coin is likely CuNi.

Again, nice find, it's a keeper in my book too.

Thanks Thurmow. How do you know that it's number 5?? There aren't any pictures. It confuses me, because mine does say british caribbean territories, but it says eastern group at the bottom. Perhaps it mean eastern territories?? Or eastern states?? Or would it say exactly that on the coin??

I like the coin, to me it's as good as finding a silver dime, even if it's not silver. I'm sure I could sell it for about the same price as a silver dime. I will look at e-bay, and see if anyone is selling the same coin.

D2arcing, I think the bank I got the dimes from is willing to sell me that many dimes, the most I've got at once is 2 boxes. It seemed like that was no big deal, so it can't hurt to ask right? I didn't get a chance to go back today, but tomorrow I will be dumping and then going to buy as many as I can, up to 1k. I want to find some more halves, a lot of my banks are dry of halves or just have like $5 here and there.

Tim,

This link takes you to the coin identification section: http://worldcoingallery.com/countries/Caribbean.php

You see that your ten cent piece is identified as km#5.

Next you go to the metal content link: http://worldcoingallery.com/values/E_caribbean.htm

Find your coin (km#5) and you'll see the various values for it, in various conditions; and that the ASW box is empty; meaning it has no silver.

The whole British Caribbean Territories / Eastern Group history can be confusing, and maybe this link will help:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Caribbean_dollar

Again, nice find.

cool, thanks for the link. I appreciate the help
