When I dug it up I saw the date. When I cleaned it most details disappeared 😞

You’re welcome. Scheidemünze coins and tokens were issued alongside official currency in Austria and Germany up until the beginning of WWI.

They differed from standard currency in that the intrinsic value of their metal was less than the stated denomination (1 pfenning/pfennig for your example).

The term “scheidemünze” literally translates as "division money" and refers to the subdivision of the mark into pfennigs and hellers, but also has the loose meaning of “small change.”
