Best Big Coil For E-Trac

Look at CoilTek coils. CoilTek is the only company that works with Minelab in making sure their coils are best in performance.

I'll second the idea of Coiltek coils, especially the WOT Coiltek 15" WOT Mk II. Its a proven performer, and the quality is second to none.

There also seems to be a lot of people liking the SEF coils... although I've never tried one myself.

I have an e-trac and have the 12" and 15" SEF coils for it. They are good but to be honest with you I don't think they are any better than the double D that comes with the machine. I sold the double D about 2 years ago when I bought the two SEF's and a 6" excellerator coil. I just ordered a new double D minelab coil. I am convinced it works every bit as good after extensive testing with silver coins buried in my test garden with many dimes, quarters and halves buried at different angles and depths up to 10". I bought a new minelab DD just yesterday in preparation for the upcoming season because they are lighter than the SEF's. Big shout out to Bedford Detectors. I'm about 40 minutes from Bedford.

No experience with it but I know NEL makes a 15"x17" coil. I'm happy with the quality of there coils but like I said no experience with the big.

Not happy to hear this, I just bought the 12 x 15 SEF, haven't tried it yet.

The 15" Wot is a great coil, but too heavy for my taste. I couldn't use it without a harness. The 13" Ultimate is a 1/2 pound lighter, which feels like 5 pounds with Etracs S shape configuration and was able to use it longer without a harness.

Oh, yeah, a harness is a must for me. The E-trac with the 15" WOT weighs a ton! With the harness, it doesn't weigh anything!

10x14 DD Excelerator EQ2 coil was one of the best coils I ever mounted on my etrac

as was the little 4.5x7 Excelerator for trash work (which goes really deep for being so small too).

I was pulling coins and buttons consistently at 13 & 14" with the 10x14 DD (listen for faint but good signal just on the fringe of breaking up) and 9 out of 10 times it's a deep coin/button --- I loved that coil/setup! Found a large token with it once at elbow deep (approx. 16") size was a little larger than a quarter but not quite as large as a 1/2 ;-)

Had the huge 15x18 sef too but there was no comparison in performance or depth or sensitivity so I sold that one

also had the 11" stock coil
13" ultimate
5x10 joey

If I had another E-Trac -- I'd be happy with just the 10x14 and 4.5x7 Excelerators --- you can keep the rest imo
