Well, a couple of firsts today for ol' Sub...first was that unmistakable, loud, clear, resonating tone on the ATPro of LARGE silver. Consistent 92 VDI at 4" down in all directions. But, being at a new-to-me, old riverside park, (that was full of trash) I did not get too excited until I saw that big disc with the reeded edge...oh boy! There in the hole was a 1961 Ben Franklin silver half dollar. A first for me with it being my largest silver coin to date.
Here he is in situ...
Here he is with a soap and water bath...
Ben was hiding in an area between two large, old trees in the park. I continued to check the area and found this little lapel pin nearby. "W.R.U." with the three ostrich feathers and "Ich Dien," the motto of the Prince of Wales. A little research led me to the Welsh Rugby Union and I am pretty sure the pin is their logo. Another first as this is the first Rugby-related item I have found so far. I hope no one played rugby in THIS park as it is full of exposed rocks...bring bandages...!
Thanks for looking, Happy Hunting to all...Sub
