Can't help, but really cool find...... I know someone on the site will be able to help you figure it out.

Um... you have something really special there...

Not sure exactly what... but i can say this for certain... it is very special.

I say this due to the 13 star pattern... and the obvious unknown look... i have never seen one with this motif.

Well done.

Could not find any exact matches but all the buckles like that have been listed as military. Will try to see if I can find an exact one. I think it might be really specia!

Does anyone recognize this belt buckle? I can't seem to find any info.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I moved ya from GENERAL DISCUSSION over to WHAT IS IT? for more exposure.

I'm going to hang my neck out, but I think what you have is a sash buckle. Notice the back side of the keeper. It's very light weight and most likely not strong enough for active campaigning.

I think I found it. It is a T-2 Early Milita two piece buckle circa 1860-1885. I have left a pic and a link to the website I found it on. https://www.hanoverbrass.com/early-militia-buckles-and-plates.htmlView attachment 1984339
Agree. 1860's militia buckle.

Here's one (repro)at Parsley Brass. They've been casting reproductions from relics dug in the 70's and 80's for most of the last half-century.

parsleysbrass.com/historical/pages/militia.php 4th buckle down on this page.
