My hubby went out a couple of days ago to a known area where a house once stood when he was a kid. It's off a dead end road, nothing but woods now and open patch where the house once stood and a remainder of an old driveway. He dug up a screwdriver, some more recent coins (70-80-90's), a rusted window lock, half of a tag that says D E on the top line and R E P U on the bottom line (it's broken in half)....prob something from the Repulican Party when someone was running for office, the casing for a bathtub or sink plug, an expired Sears C/C (they had been a member since 1997...but shows no exp date), a 1980 Corvette Stingray Hot Wheels car, a very heavy GOLD LABEL hose nozzle (4" in length) and then the below photo of a belt buckle. He said when he dug it up....it was bottom up and he was so excited, thinking he got a Civil War buckle...oh well, in time
A magnet does not stick to this...looks homemade to me. Hubby said store bought. I said possible, but it still could be handmade, you don't know that the person may have had a trade in making things like this. On the back are CPL 1168 (or GPL or OPL...can't tell for sure)...but someone also scratched in D.L. and on the front, you can tell someone scratched up the front of it. Has anyone seen a belt buckle like this? Do you think it could be homemade? I am thinking the stamped initials are the makers name and 1168 is for November 1968. Just my thought. It could be made from scrap and what does the X E mean??
Thanks!!
